The Type 7 Guide to Tokyo is the first in a new series of premium travel guides from Type 7. This hardcover edition distills the vast city into five essential categories, Eat, Drink, Rest, Shop, and Architecture, with recommendations ranging from luxury hotels like the Aman and the Park Hyatt to hidden sushi counters in Tsukiji’s alleyways, and even what might be the most revolutionary pizza on earth.

Curated by Type 7 founder Ted Gushue and creative director Thomas Walk, with Tokyo-based guest editors Yurina Hattori-Roche and Peter Sayn-Wittgenstein, the guide reflects a month-long immersion into the city’s cultural fabric. Rich photography captures both iconic landmarks and hidden corners of Tokyo, with special “24 Hours in Tokyo” annotations designed for travelers short on time.

Originally introduced as part of Type 7 Volume Four: Team Ikuzawa Edition, the guide has been thoroughly redesigned and expanded with new discoveries, updated recommendations, and a refreshed visual identity. Bound in a durable, thread-sewn linen hardcover, the Type 7 Guide to Tokyo is designed to be used, displayed, and collected as part of a growing series that will continue in the years ahead.
